Witless In America

It’s Wednesday, and they’re still Witless In Washington;

If you don’t know why that last quote is witless, do us all a favor and sit out the next election.

You know, I’m starting to feel a bit guilty. There is no joy in pointing out the follies of the feeble-minded, well not much anyway. So, I thought I would turn to a source of inspiration: the place the majority of Americans turn to get their political views, Hollywood;

That would be good for a few laughs, except for the fact that so many of our fellow Americans hold these people up as heroes, people to aspire to be like.  Think like a celebrity; it saves you the trouble of thinking for yourself.

Don’t know who some of those “celebrities” are? Your kids do, and turn to these A-listers for guidance and inspiration. Worried yet?

    You and I are so on the same page. As for Hollyweird? I don’t care what any of them have to say. It’s not like back in the 40s when all the actors enlisted and went to war. Those guys were heroes. These creeps don’t do anything but act, and tell the rest of us what we should think and do. NOT!

    Have a terrific day. :)

      I care very little for what they say out in LaLa land either, but the problem is so many people do. If they would just stay in Hollywood, I’d be a bit less disgusted if they just stayed in California, but they use their celebrity status to cram their ignorant opinions on the rest of the country. I get fairly well disgusted by the newest celebrity flavor of the day, but the kids think these people are heroes. This is the problem.

    I just had an interesting reaction to this. The politicians’ quotes never fail to make me laugh, but when I began reading the “celebrity” quotes, I stopped laughing – they just irritated me with their ignorance. Maybe it is because, as you said, we hold the second group up as “heroes” and role models. We have always found laughing at politicians to be good sport.

      You just got the whole point of the column today. Maybe if they kids saw how stupid some of these people are, maybe the kids would look up to real role models. We are the only culture in history to elevate thugs, punks and ne’er do wells to hero status. This is a real problem and threatens the very society that produces this culture.
