You know, I had a bunch of jokes lined up about taxes and the IRS, but to be honest, I’m not in a joking mood today. Today is the last day to file your taxes. It was supposed to be on April 15th, as that is the traditional April Fools Day. The 15th fell on a Sunday this year, and yesterday was called a holiday. So today is April Fools Day 2012.
I’m trying to keep up a brave face, and I know that some taxation is necessary for a functioning society. But when I see the waste, the abuse of money, and most of all the attitude about spending it. Have you seen the newest scandals with the GSA? Hey, didn’t we just go through this two years ago, same agency? It’s criminal. I’m trying to keep a smiling face today, in the spirit of the Real April Fools Day.
So, looking at all the headlines, and testimony, and now hearings, and more bullshit promises to “really clean up the mess” again. I’m honestly so sick of it. And now,the election on top of it! Both sides, all over the media offering solutions; both sides the same old crap. Just a reminder during this election year;
And, a reminder of hope and change?
Maybe what we should do is make the Traditional April Fool’s Day a day of political action. A day to recommit ourselves to throw this congress out, to get something done, to throw the bums out. What a fitting use for the day. Or is that another foolish idea? Still, I’ll try to leave you laughing today;
