The First Chill of Winter

I was having a hard time coming up with a topic today. Finding out at 4:30 in the morning that we had run out of coffee tends to get the day off to a rough start. As I headed out to the truck to drive into town, I got the first taste of the coming winter. The first chill that touches the bone, and sends that quick shiver up the spine. Ready or not, winter is just around the corner. Crap! I used to like winter;

I used to enjoy winter, but that’s changed over the last few years. My attitude changed about the same time my wife began having Hot Flashes. It’s 32° in the house, and she’s turning the air conditioner on. I sit at my desk in my thermals, two layers of clothes, and my coat, she’s running around the house in a bath robe. And it seems the colder it is outside, the worse the hot flashes seem to get. Ahhh…the joys of growing older together.

Sitting at the table enjoying the long awaited first cup of coffee, she asked me this morning to quit being a grump about it and say something positive about winter’s coming for her. To which I say, as I always do; Yes Dear.

Ahhhh….the joys of growing old together.

    I’m so with you on winter. I don’t like to wear socks or long pants. I hate having all the layers. I want to wear flip flops, shorts and a polo shirt. All year long. Come on Hawaii cruise.

    Have a terrific day. :)

      The older I get, the less I like it. Seems I get cold in December and stay that way until March. Cold weather is one of the reasons I live in Texas. I’d go bonkers with snow on the ground for half a year.

    I was supposed to be born to wealthy parents in the Bahamas, but the stork left me in Michigan. Oh well, wouldn’t have met my husband in the Bahamas :)
