So, where do we go from here? Despite the urge, my conservative friends, we shouldn’t gloat or make fun of our newly awakened Liberal friends. After two decades of them lording over us how enlightened they are, it is tempting to hand out a healthy dose of ‘I Told You So!’ It may be fun, but what end would it serve? If the Liberals are finally waking up to the realpolitik, then I suggest we give them a cup of coffee, and welcome them to the waking world. So, how can we start the civil discussion we need to have … Continue reading →
Vampires and ghosts, ghouls and goblins. We all have them running around inside our heads and around our daily lives. We have to find them and exorcise them to move forward in our lives. The external ones, the spirit suckers, are the easiest to spot. You know the type. They walk into a room, and you can feel a pall fall across the entire room. Some people can just suck the air out of a room. So, why stay in the room? I think most of us move away from gloom. We tend to avoid casual acquaintances who bring us … Continue reading →
After the news and tragedies of this week, I hesitated for a moment about putting up something frivolous today. Then I thought about it again, and decided rather than a retreat from frivolity in times of stress, maybe we need to face it head on and laugh a bit. Ladies and Gentlemen; A double dose of Heather today; It’s looking like the mess in West is a horrible accident, perhaps negligence, they’ll dig into it. They’ve identified the two bombers in Boston, one dead the other probably soon. I guess there’s one thing those that would think terror is an … Continue reading →
So, we make it to Friday. Not only the end of the week, but the end of the month; and possibly the end of winter. It seems the week has been lingering much like winter has, not wanting to give up its grip on my days. It was an interesting month, full of revelations and a redefining of rectitude for this blogging thing. One thing I’ve learned, there are no experts, only people trying to shill books. You’ve now seen the entire week’s worth of themes we’ll be rolling out. One thing I do plan to do, always try to … Continue reading →
Made it through the week. For a while, that was in doubt. I think the problem started when I visited the Golden Arches for the first time in months. My system rebelled, my plumbing started to leak. Each and every time I swear it off, never again. Just like a hang-over makes you swear off drinking again. That is until Friday comes along; After a few months, the pain and discomfort will subside, and I’ll get the urge again. I know it’s not good for me, I know it wrecks your health. I know; I tell myself again and again. … Continue reading →
We made it to Friday, Have more Heather I’ve been having a hard time coming up with topics for discussion the last couple weeks. What’s going on in Washington is so distressing that I can’t think logically about it. And people don’t seem to care, yet. They will soon, but maybe holiday hang-over or something. Insomnia and writer’s block isn’t helping. Fortunately, I have Heather. While I’m having a hard time getting inspiration, not finding motivation, I can always find a way to be a smart-ass. So, now I’ve shared all the Heather I had in the queue. Now … Continue reading →
So we make it to Frivolous Friday. The best thing about talking politics during the week; this lady seems normal. I thought of doing something different for this Frivolous Friday. I was quickly put in my place. Fine, have more Heather; Heather seems to be one of our most popular memes. A lot of people are printing her out, and posting her in cubicles across the world. Wow, have fun. One thing I’ve learned while doing this series; there is a lot of wisdom wrapped up in sarcasm. Have a great weekend.
So we made it to the first Friday of 2013. After surviving the whole Apocalypse thing and the Fiscal Cliff circus, I thought we all needed a good laugh. Who better to laugh with than our very own Helpful HR Lady? Looking at the year ahead, especially what’s going to happen in Washington, laughter is going to be harder and harder to come by. We get a whole new congress, and not a statesman among them. It would be comedic if it wasn’t so criminal what they are doing to the kids. But I have next week to worry about … Continue reading →
What a week, looking into all these New Age beliefs. Enough of that and you’re ready for the End Of The World. After a week like this, this lady seems normal. And this week, I’ll leave you with the best business analogy I’ve read in a few years. May you laugh all the way to Monday.
Made it to Friday, still awake. That usually puts me in a delirious mood. So today, for all the cubicle warriors, may I present another employee I’m sure you’re familiar with; The Jaded Junior Executive. He thought the promotion was to advance his career, but found out soon enough he’s just there to catch the crap; Poor Guy, catches crap that flows downhill, and stops the crap from flowing uphill. He’s in career limbo; not skilled enough to move ahead, just competent enough to not get fired. And everyone knows it, but him. So, how does he cope? He stays … Continue reading →
What a night. Shivering, shaking, sweating, nauseous, it felt like I was going to throw up. Then I turned off the news channel, and I was able to get to sleep. You know it’s a nasty election when the commercials are worse than the headlines. Still not feeling well, but I think in another few days, I’ll be fine. Probably by Wednesday. Until then have a laugh on me; One thing about tossing and turning all night, thinking you’re about to die, it gives you a chance to reflect on your hard earned life lessons. A few things that crossed … Continue reading →
